General Laborer

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Reports to: Lead Technician

This position requires 80% travel across the US. Applicants must be willing to travel nationwide frequently for short and long-term projects.

Position Overview

The General Laborer will assist the Lead Technician and other skilled technicians by performing various physical labor tasks such as operating tools or machinery, assist in setting up and cleaning up, measuring, cutting, or shaping various materials, etc.

This role requires minimal technical skills, attention to detail, a willingness to learn and the ability to stay organized. At the discretion of management, this position may be required to perform additional essential functions not listed below.

Essential Functions

  • Assist Lead Technicians and other skilled technicians with their duties when necessary.
  • Perform physical labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
  • Operate tools or machinery as required for specific tasks.
  • Clean out fan coil units and assist with installing new insulation.
  • Assist in setting up and taking down the materials and equipment at job sites.
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure a safe and clean work site.
  • Load and unload materials from pods and assist with set up.
  • Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials.
  • Travel extensively for both short- and long-term projects across the U.S.

Essential Skills & Knowledge Required
  • Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Measurement Skills: Able to take precise physical measurements of coils, pans, and pipes for documentation.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment, willingness to take on additional duties and responsibilities for the good of the team.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Basic proficiency of MS Excel, Word and Outlook/Teams.

 

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some experience in maintenance work, general labor, construction industry or other similar experience is a plus.
 
Physical Requirements
  • Must be comfortable working in confined spaces and standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs, carrying, pushing, pulling; climbing, and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; may be required to work off ladders.
  • May be exposed to dust from drilling, sanding, grinding, etc. and excessive noise from use of power tools, working around heavy equipment, etc. Employer provides personal protective equipment to employees working with these types of hazards.
  • This position requires 80% travel across the US. Applicants must be willing to travel nationwide frequently for short and long-term projects. This may include occasional holiday work.
